On behalf of Organizing Committee I have a pleasure to invite your Student Branch to the IEEE Central European Student Branch Congress – CEuSBC 2013 which will be held in Opole (Poland) from 13th to 15th May 2013. After the successful IEEE Region 8 SB & GOLD Congress 2012 in Madrid students from Central Europe and neighbouring regions are going to meet together again. They will continue the promising tradition, started in 2011 in Linz, attending in many technical and non-technical workshops, panel sessions, interactive student branch session and social activities.

The highlight of the IEEE CEuSBC 2013 will be a concert and gala dinner in Opole Philharmonic Hall, where also an award ceremony is planned.

Marko DelimarMarko Delimar, Professor at University of Zagreb, Faculty of Electrical engineering and Computing, has been elected 2013 IEEE Secretary by the IEEE Assembly during its regular meeting in New Brunswick, NJ, USA on 10 November 2012. The IEEE Assembly annually elects the following five Corporate Officers: IEEE Secretary; IEEE Treasurer; IEEE Vice President, Educational Activities; IEEE Vice President, Member and Geographic Activities; and IEEE Vice President, Publication Services and Products. The Assembly-elected officers serve a one-year term. Dr. Delimar is currently serving a two-year term as IEEE Region 8 Director. Previous Region 8 Directors who also served as IEEE Secretary include Levent Onural (2003), Maurice Papo (1999), Charles Turner (1995), Karsten Drangeid (1992), Hugo Ruechardt (1989), Walter Proebster (1985), and Dick Poortvliet (1981/82).

Costas StasopoulosCostas M. Stasopoulos, Electricity Authority of Cyprus, Nicosia, Cyprus has been elected as the 2013-2014 IEEE Region 8 Director-Elect. Pending acceptance of the Tellers Committee report by the IEEE Board of Directors on 11-12 November, Costas Stasopoulos will begin serving as IEEE Region 8 Director on 1 January 2015. He will succeed 2013-2014 IEEE Region 8 Director Martin J. Bastiaans. Costas Stasopoulos has been the IEEE Region 8 Secretary from 2007 to present. The other candidate for 2013-2014 IEEE Region 8 Director-Elect was Saurabh Sinha, University of Pretoria, Pretoria, South Africa. Both candidates were nominated by IEEE Region 8.

SBC-2012-Certificate_OsypenkoIEEE Student Branch & GOLD Congress that was held in Madrid, Spain from 25th to 29th of July 2012 is an international event organized by IEEE where young engineering students and young professionals from universities of Europe, Middle East and Africa meet together to discuss present and future engineering challenges, network and learn more about the IEEE. Previous editions of this congress were held in such cities as Paris, Cairo, Istanbul and others.
The purpose of this event is to help engineering students, PhD students and young professionals gain further insight, enabling exchange of knowledge and skills.
