[singlepic id=4 w=320 h=240 float=left] Roshchupkin Oleksiy, PhD student of Information Computing Systems and Control Department of Ternopil National Economic University made research visits to Chemnitz (Germany) and Prague (Czech Republic) between March 20 and 23, 2012.
The aim of the research visit to the Department of Measurement, Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Prague Technical University was the consultative meetings with Professor Radislav Smid. The subject of the consultation was Oleksiy Roshchupkin’s research of dissertation work, in particular, it was discussed the plan of the thesis of each of the sub. Professor Smid was given some recommendations to improve mentioned work, namely:
– to revise the algorithms that were used in systems such as “electronic nose”;
– to use the American Association standards for the unambiguous definition of used terms;
– for verifying the proposed method on real data, Professor Smid was proposed to set the testing facility and also he was proposed the scheme and components for this facility;
– to supply dissertation thesis by detailed physical formulas and explanations.

It was also agreed about using of license software of the Czech Technical University for the simulation and computational studies in the thesis, including the program Matlab.
In Chemnitz, Oleksiy Roshchupkin took part in 9th International Multi-Conference on Systems, Signals & Devices, SSD’12. He was presented scientific work: “Reducing the calibration points of multisensors”, authors: Roshchupkin Oleksiy, Smid Radislav; Kochan Volodymyr; Sachenko Anatoly” in which were illustrated some results of Oleksiy Roshchupkin’s dissertation thesis.
The work was presented during a poster session. The report aroused keen interest among specialists in various fields, including editors of scientific journals Hans-Rolf Tränkler, Aimé Lay-Ekuakille, experts from industry who gave useful tips about improvement of presented work both the theoretical and practical side.
The conference program included a tour to the factory of the firm Siemens, so Roshchupkin was familiarized with complete cycle of industrial automation controllers, frequency converters and control blocks to industrial equipment.
This research trip In Chemnitz was supported by the IEEE Voluntary Contribution Fund (VCF), which allocated $ 500 to cover travel expenses and hotel accommodation.
Personal thanks to IEEE VCF coordinator – Professor Vlatko Stoilkov.
