Dear IEEE Ukraine Section Members,
On March 11, 2020, the World Health Organization declared COVID-19 a pandemic. Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers imposed quarantine in Ukraine until April 3, 2020.
The health and safety of the IEEE Community in Ukraine is of paramount importance to the IEEE Ukraine Section, therefore we are carefully considering our plans going forward. Due to the outbreak of COVID-19, increasing health concerns and the well-being of the conference attendees, you should be aware of the risks of proceeding with the IEEE conferences in Ukraine.
Organizing Committees of IEEE Conferences together with the IEEE Ukraine Section and its Subunits are carefully considering plans going forward, at the moment there are several options:
a) Move to Virtual Conference
Conference registrants can view slides over a certain period (e.g same as the conference period) and interact with questions or/and can participate in online WebEx meeting. The Conference proceedings will still be submitted for publication in IEEE Xplore Digital Library.
b) Postpone the Conference
If Conference OrgCom have enough time to find an alternative date and location, this can be an option. However, it is difficult to predict when the situation will improve. Publication of Conference proceedings will be delayed. It is also important to avoid dates/venues conflicts with similar Conferences.
c) Cancellation of the Conference
This is the last resort option that we all will try to avoid. Conference Proceedings will not be published and this will negatively impacts authors.
Conferences and IEEE Organizers will inform authors of their decision with details as early as possible.
We hope things will settle soon and everyone can enjoy our valuable IEEE conferences.
